How Do I Choose The Right T1?

In your search for the right T1 for your business, you have probably come across a number of unfamiliar terms like T1 Pri, WAN, point-to-point, SIP and a whole host of others. You have also, no doubt, found new companies with strange sounding names. You may not have the time, the energy or the technical knowledge to devote to this important task. Like most, you would probably just as soon get the decision made, get the T1 ordered, get the T1 installed and move on with the business of doing your business. What is one to do?

Well, you could pay an expensive consultant to guide you through this process. You can get all the help you want and get your T1 installed and operational—all in exchange for a large consulting fee.

But, there is much more. When you order a new T1, lots of wheels start turning. The T1 provider is involved. The local telephone company is involved. Who is managing this process? Who is making sure everything is happening when it should be and that your T1 will be installed and working when it is supposed to be? Well, it could be you if you were going through this process on your own. Or, if you order through QuoteMyT1, it would be your professional consultant, again at no cost to you. • I don’t understand why this site and other similar sites want my address and phone number.

  • I am the webmaster of BestMPLSRates.com. I’ll take a crack at explaining this.

Quoting a T1 circuit is a very complicated undertaking. T1 pricing is very location dependent. The exact address of the service location has to be provided to the carrier via the quote engine in order to determine which service providers have service and which telephone central office is servicing the location. Some carriers also require a phone number at the service location. If an incorrect address or phone number is given, grossly inaccurate quotes are the result and nobody is happy. In addition, there are special pricing at times that might be missed.

One way to illustrate this is to consider the purchase of an airplane ticket for your next vacation. If you tell the travel agent or provide the on-line quote tool wrong information, you will be disappointed. If tell the travel agent you want to buy a ticket but refuse to give them the destination, you will have a very frustrating ticket buying experience. If you give them wrong information–say that you are flying to Miami in December and you really want to go to Fairbanks in July, you will not get the correct pricing. And, you may miss out on specials that you could have seen had you given the travel agent the correct destination.

This analogy is a little long, but has similar dynamics to the T1 quoting process and experience. The address and phone number of the service location is important to get accurate pricing.

    Hope this helped.
